Euro Coop signs an Agreement with Compenco2 to offset its Travelling Carbon Emissions.
In line with the commitments taken by its members in the fight against Climate Change, Euro Coop's Secretariat has decided to cooperate with the joint Belgian NGO initiative CompenCO2 to offset the carbon emissions induced by its staff's travels.
Because reducing CO2 emissions still remains the ultimate objective, Euro Coop considers Cap and Trade programs as being "last-step" initiatives. This engagement adds to the valuable and day-to-day work carried out by Consumer Co-operatives across Europe which have always worked towards a truly sustainable economy and society.
With this initiative, Euro Coop calls on other EU and International Organisations to join and strengthen their efforts to curb Climate Change effects.
Climate Change is beyond any doubt one of our greatest challenges for the 21st century and a cooperative response is urgently needed at EU and global level.
