Conference "GMOs: Orientations of the European Cooperative Movement
Brussels, 12th October 2007, from 10:00 to 13:00 Salone Basevi, Palazzo Legacoop - via Guattani, 9 - ROME
From 15th September to 15th November 2007, the Coalition "ItalyEurope - Free from GMOs" organises a national Consultation, in Italy. This Coalition brings together, for the first time, organizations of farmers, of the co-operative movement, of the craft industry, of small and medium enterprises, of consumers, of the Environment, science, culture and international co-operation.
Through this consultation civil society, which is concerned with agriculture and food, gathers in order to urge the Institutions to put the agricultural & food model at the centre of the development of the country.
On the occasion of several events and initiatives organised throughout Italy, citizens will have the possibility to vote for an agricultural & food model that is of quality, safe, respectful of the Environment and of Climate and, in particular, GMO-free.
The Conference "GMOs: Orientations of the European Cooperative Movement" is part of this campaign. It is co-organised by ANCC/COOP, the Italian National Association of Consumer Co-operatives, and EURO COOP, the European Community of Consumer Co-operatives, and it will take place in Rome, on 12th October 2007.
With this Conference, ANCC/COOP and EURO COOP intend to foster a European debate on GMOs, in order to strengthen common positions and to call on the European Institutions to allow an agricultural & food model that envisages GMO-free choices.
